Award-Winning Wedding Filmmaker New York
OUR BACKGROUNDWhy Hire Filmmakers
to Shoot Your Wedding?
Our background is cinema. Andrew is a director who builds a frame the way a painter builds a canvas. Roma is a film producer who spent over ten years on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre before moving into film. Together we have shot award-winning short films, commercials for Adidas, Nutella and Mercedes, and music videos.
Festival juries have recognized this work: Grand Jury Winner at FFTG Awards 2023, Best Short Documentary at Venezia Shorts 2021, Best Director at Seattle International Fashion Film Festival 2021, Best Cinematography at Prague International Film Awards 2021.
A wedding is the one film where there is no second take. The moment happens once, and either we catch it or it is gone. That pressure is exactly what we love about this work.
OUR PROCESS
How Do We Film a
Wedding Day in New York?
The base of every film we make is documentary. We follow the day without staging it, and we add editorial framing on top, with light, silhouette and composition treated the way a fashion magazine treats them. We shoot on Sony FX3 cinema cameras, record vows and speeches with professional audio, and add drone footage where the venue and FAA rules allow.
We work as a tandem on the day: both of us build the frame, read the couple's energy and decide when to direct and when to disappear. In post-production we personally review every clip, build the story, grade the color and mix the sound. Nothing is outsourced.
OUR SIGNATURESuper 8 Wedding Films
Are Our Signature
We shoot real Super 8 on a vintage Braun Nizo 3056, on real film stock, and this format is what couples come to us for. A cartridge is short and there is no screen to check, so every shot has to count, and that discipline shows in the result. Real film gives grain and warmth that digital filters cannot copy.
You can build the whole wedding film around Super 8 or add it to digital coverage. It suits couples who want their wedding to look like found family footage from another era, and couples who already love analog photography.
VENUES WE KNOWWe film across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island, Hudson Valley and New Jersey. There is no single venue that guarantees a great film — the couple brings the energy to the place — but five locations keep pulling us back:
Where Do We Film
in New York City?
The Plaza
Palm Court, Fifth Avenue and a view over Central Park. New York luxury with real history in the walls.
Peconic Bay Yacht Club
The Skylark
a Midtown rooftop with Times Square, the Hudson and the Empire State Building in one frame.
Oheka Castle
a French-style chateau on Long Island with formal gardens and grand staircases, made for wide cinematic shots.
The Surf Club on The Sound
Reid Castle
New York asks for planning. A transfer that looks like 15 minutes on the map can take 40 in traffic, popular spots are crowded most of the day, and some parks and landmarks require filming permits arranged in advance. We build the timeline around this and always keep a weather plan B. At one venue the house lamps flickered against our frame rate and drew moving black bands across the footage; we adjusted the shutter speed, set our own light and kept shooting. Neither the couple nor the guests noticed a thing.

Arrakis Films is led by two founders who came to weddings from cinema. Andrew is a director with a painter's eye for the frame. Roma is a producer who spent more than ten years on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre before moving into film.
Together they have shot festival-awarded short films, commercials for Adidas, Nutella and Mercedes, and music videos, and they bring that same cinematic language to every wedding film they make in New York City.

PLANNING YOUR DATEThe Best Time for an NYC Wedding
RECOMMENDEDSpring, Early June & Fall
Spring, early June and fall. Spring gives the city bloom and soft light without the heat. Early June is warm but the real humidity has not arrived yet. Fall is the golden season with rich color and comfortable temperatures.
PLAN CAREFULLYSummer & Winter
July and August mean heat and heavy humidity that wear down the couple as much as the crew, and winter brings cold and a short daylight window. We say this honestly at the planning stage, so the date and the location are chosen for real conditions.

Photos are delivered within a month. The film takes 4 to 6 months, and in practice most couples receive it in 4 to 5. We edit and grade everything ourselves, and that time is what makes the film feel like cinema.
-
Yes, on a vintage Braun Nizo 3056 with real film stock. Super 8 is included in the 10-hour package and available as an add-on to the others. Film gives grain and warmth that digital filters cannot copy, and many couples mix it with digital coverage.
-
Our base is NYC and we cover all boroughs plus Long Island, Hudson Valley and New Jersey. We also film weddings in Los Angeles and travel for destination weddings. Logistics are agreed in advance.

With professional wireless microphones and backup recording. Sound carries half of the film's emotion, vows and speeches most of all, so we check and mix the audio with the same care we give the picture.
-
Yes, and most of our couples do. The photo and video teams agree on the timeline in advance and work in sync during the day, so the two do not compete for the same moments. The gallery and the film share one visual language.
-
You do not need to perform. Treat us like old friends rather than vendors, and live your day. In documentary mode you can forget the camera entirely. When we build editorial shots, we guide you through simple movements, and the direction feels light.
