WHO WE ARE

Your New York wedding, shot like an Editorial

We're Andrew and Roma, the two founders of Arrakis Films, both photographers out of film and fashion. We shoot editorial weddings across New York City. Editorial means we build the frame: light, silhouette, pose and composition handled the way a fashion magazine handles them, on top of a documentary base of real emotion on a real day. We shoot digital alongside medium-format film, and we select and retouch every frame ourselves.

OUR STYLE

What is Editorial wedding photography?

Editorial photography treats your wedding like a fashion story. The frame is composed, the light is shaped, and pose and silhouette are directed the way they'd be directed on a magazine shoot. It sits on a documentary base of real moments, which is what keeps the gallery looking styled without looking acted. The difference from standard coverage comes down to direction and time: some frames are built deliberately, against references from magazines and art.

OUR PROCESS

How do we shoot editorial weddings?

We work side by side, at a slower and more deliberate pace than reportage, with more direction coming from us. Each frame gets built from three things: the location, the light, and whatever is natural to the two of you. Composition follows what the space and the couple give us. Some shots are staged against references; the rest of the day we shoot as it comes. The galleries we're proudest of come from couples who gave the portrait window real time and let us lead through it.

Venues and Permits

What we need from you on the day

A protected portrait window, usually thirty to sixty minutes, agreed when the timeline is written. And a willingness to be moved around a bit. We'll tell you where to stand, where to look and what to do with your hands, and it will feel strange for the first five minutes and normal after that. Everything else is our job.

OUR PROCESS

Medium-format film photography for New York weddings

Editorial and film go together. Alongside digital, we shoot medium-format film on a Hasselblad 503: depth, its own grain, and a density of colour digital doesn't reproduce, plus the occasional light leak that ends up as part of the picture. Film is what gives the editorial look its texture. It suits couples who already know analog and are choosing it on purpose.

“Arrakis Films delivered both stunning photography and an incredible wedding film for our NYC elopement. Roma and Andrew work seamlessly as a photo and video team—the photos are beautifully composed and emotional, and the film is cinematic and heartfelt. What sets them apart is that both services feel equally important and equally beautiful. We love rewatching our film and cherishing our photos in equal measure. Highly recommend for any couple wanting artistic, professional work in both photo and video.”

“I couldn’t have asked for better photographers and videographers. They did an amazing job of capturing my wedding day. My wedding day was on May 17,2025. Not only were they supportive throughout the day, but they also made me feel special and beautiful. I’m grateful to have met Andrew and Roma. They helped me with everything, from the smallest details to the biggest ones. When you showed me the pictures and then the videography, I was blown away. The quality of the photos was stunning, and the passion and warmth in them were incredible. The video was even more impressive. I couldn’t believe you could create such a piece that we would laugh, cry, and watch over and over again. Thank you so much, Roma and Andrew, for being the team who captured my wedding day. I was blessed to meet you both.”

Also such wonderful people to have around on our wedding day! They made us feel comfortable, were a joy to work with, it felt like we’ve known them for forever!! “I could not imagine my wedding day without Arrakis Films. They are without a doubt the most transparent, organized, and determined team to tell your love story, the way you want it, in a way that's beautifully authentic and heartfelt, including everyone present for such a classic wedding day. It's a little nerve racking picking a vendor as a bride. We thought that since they were both Photo + Video/ Super8 Film, it was a no brainer we wanted them to be our photographer. They go above and beyond to get the perfect shot when it matters most, and still when you're not looking, capturing the most perfect moments. It’s been such a gift from them to us to be able to relive a day for that flew by in the blink of an eye. The photos and the videos—are absolutely incredible. I am so in love with every single moment they have captured, and grateful for their guidance and ability to move from one part of the day to the next. I had absolutely no worries!! Especially with everything else going on. I find myself watching our Wedding Film, remembering each moment more and more as it was, and each time I realize that I’m smiling from beginning to end, every. single. time. These memories mean more to us than I can say (especially cause it went by too fast!). The team is truly amazing. They kept us laughing and easing all of our nerves, made me and all of the girls feel so beautiful, while capturing everything and everyone so thoughtfully and meaningfully. Words truly can’t express how grateful I am for Arrakis Films. With love, The Bride”

Where do we shoot editorial weddings in New York?

Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, Long Island and Westchester, the Hudson Valley and New Jersey. Recent venues include Oheka Castle, The Plaza, The Foundry, Reid Castle, Public Hotel, The Surf Club and Whitby Castle.

A drive that looks like fifteen minutes on a map takes forty in traffic, the best spots are crowded most of the day, and some parks and landmarks want a filming permit arranged in advance. We plan the portrait window around that and keep a second location ready.

A decade on stage, then fashion, then this.

Arrakis Films is the two of us. Film and fashion are where we both started. Andrew shoots and directs. Roma shoots and produces. Editorial is our first language: a slower, directed pace where light, silhouette and composition are built the way a magazine builds them, over a documentary base of real emotion. We photograph in New York and Los Angeles, select and retouch every frame ourselves, and work to one idea: True.Fierce.Beauty, real beauty caught, not staged.
