Salome & Nyinyi — Reid Castle Wedding at Manhattanville College
Historic Elegance & Timeless Atmosphere
Reid Hall is one of New York’s hidden wedding gems — a French-inspired stone mansion surrounded by quiet lawns, ivy-covered walls, and soft natural light. Originally designed in the Renaissance Revival style, the estate was carefully planned to reflect both grandeur and elegance. Once known as Ophir Hall, the mansion was built as a country estate and later rebuilt after a fire, evolving into the romantic castle-like structure seen today. Located on the campus of Manhattanville University in Purchase, NY, this 19th-century historic estate was home to Whitelaw Reid, a prominent diplomat and newspaper owner, and his wife, Elizabeth. Whitelaw Reid’s diplomatic service in France influenced the design and romantic ambiance of the castle, infusing the estate with French architectural elements and a sense of romance.
Ceremony & Celebration
Their ceremony took place on the front lawn, with an exclusive group of guests—warm sunlight, a soft breeze, and heartfelt vows witnessed by their closest people. Reid Hall’s expansive footprint on the Manhattanville College campus allowed for a celebration that felt intimate yet full of space to breathe. The venue offers flexible indoor and outdoor options, including the O'Byrne Chapel, courtyard, and several elegant reception rooms. Reid Castle hosts only one reception per day, ensuring exclusive access for the wedding party and guests. The mansion’s French doors and terraces open to the scenic grounds, enhancing the event experience and providing beautiful backdrops for gatherings.
Why Reid Hall Is a Perfect Wedding Venue
