City Hall and Marriage License Steps in New York City

To get married in NYC, you need a marriage license issued by the NYC City Clerk. The process: submit an application online, book an in-person or virtual appointment, and receive the license after your appointment. New York State requires waiting at least 24 hours after the license is issued before the ceremony, unless a judge grants a waiver.
